On June 8, 2025, members of ONE DEJIMA participated in a rice planting experience at the ‘\u014cnakao Rice Terraces’ located in Nagasaki City’s Sotome district!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Against a backdrop of declining birthrates, aging population, and productivity challenges, it is becoming increasingly difficult to maintain rice terraces. In response to this situation, ONE DEJIMA is working in collaboration with the Rice Terraces Preservation Association to create opportunities for employees, their families, and friends to gather, interact, and learn through farm work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On this day, eight people, including employees’ families, participated. They gathered at the \u014cnakao Rice Terraces at 9:00 AM and listened intently to explanations from the Preservation Association staff regarding the rice planting process and the day’s schedule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the briefing, participants were guided by instructors to the rice paddy, and the rice planting finally began. The seedlings, which had been sown during the farm work in May, had grown lush and green. Following the markers drawn at 20cm intervals, the participants carefully planted each seedling one by one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although the participants struggled with the unfamiliar work in the paddy field, they cooperated with the instructors and other field owners and successfully planted all the seedlings. Despite sinking their feet into the muddy field, the atmosphere was filled with smiles and laughter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This time, three children also joined the ONE DEJIMA team for the first time! They were completely absorbed in the tadpoles and frogs in the rice paddy as they took on the challenge of their first-ever rice planting. They seemed satisfied with their first field activity, and smiles were evident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From cross-departmental employee interaction to children’s nature experience, the day was full of learning and excitement that our usual office work doesn’t offer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a “glocal” company that values both a global perspective and local action, ONE DEJIMA aims for coexistence with the local community. We will continue our activities at the \u014cnakao Rice Terraces and keep everyone updated on our progress!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
