The Internship Program was designed with three primary objectives: \u201cFacing actual business challenges,\u201d \u201cExperiencing a global work environment,\u201d and \u201cGaining insight with ONE DEJIMA\u2019s work processes and values.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While the host departments and participating students changed each week, every program placed a shared emphasis on understanding challenges, forming hypotheses, and communicating ideas through formal proposals. Even with a short timeframe, we prioritized having students tackle themes closely related to actual business operations\u2014thinking critically, engaging in team discussions, and ultimately delivering a final presentation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rather than simply acquiring passive knowledge, this internship focused on cultivating the ability to organize complex themes and deliver persuasive proposals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Learning ONE DEJIMA\u2019s Work Through Four Themes<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Data-Driven Enterprise (DDE) Week<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n In the first week, the DDE division led a session focused on recruitment. Interns identified challenges ONE DEJIMA faces in hiring highly specialized data analysis talent. Through competitor analysis and labor market research, they formulated proposals regarding brand recognition and recruitment approaches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n (DDE Interns and Mentors)<\/p>\n\n\n\n Human Resources (HR) Week<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The HR division tackled organizational development themes, specifically focusing on recruitment, training, and employee engagement. Interns considered how ONE DEJIMA\u2019s values and vision are perceived by external candidates and employees, proposing improved framework and systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n (HR Interns and Mentors)<\/p>\n\n\n\n Business Intelligence (BI) Week<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The BI division session was conducted in Japanese and focused on international market analysis. Using trade statistics and related information regarding the Polish market, interns analyzed market growth and potential cargo demand to propose future business opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n (BI Interns and Mentors)<\/p>\n\n\n\n Product & Network (P&N) Week<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The P&N division handled themes tied to the core operations of the shipping industry. Interns worked on alliance space settlements and vessel operation data analysis, identifying insights that could lead to improved fuel efficiency and operational productivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n (P&N Interns and Mentors)<\/p>\n\n\n\n A Five-day Journey Concluding with Final Presentations<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n On the final day of each week, teams gave presentations to ONE DEJIMA leaders and mentors. We believe that the experience of analyzing a problem, discussing it within a team, and finalizing a proposal under a tight deadline provided a significant growth opportunity for all participants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The internship served as a place of learning for the students, but it was also a valuable chance for our company to engage with fresh perspectives and new ways of thinking.
